Merry Christmas Helpers
Jennifer, a postal manager alerted me to a scenario that caught her eye.
On Christmas Eve day outside the Peace Arch City post office two merry Borderite students put their hearts and souls and songs into joyful holiday locomotion to raise money for The Salvation Army. Admittedly both Mary Marshall and Samantha Beardslee are "Christmas freaks" who "just love" the yule season. Sam has 750 twinkling lights adorning her bedroom with assorted decorations and ornaments filling wall space and shelves. Mary volunteered herself and Sam for "The Cause" trimmed in their own style.
Upon closer examination one sees that there is still more to this storyline.
Both girls have other humanitarian ideals in their life plans. Mary works at Stafholt Care Center and has a nursing career in her minds eye. Sam on the other hand is looking to find a vocation helping to save our wildlife or possibly study to be a nuclear biologist. Returning to today's activities both girls said almost everyone who walked by contributed to the red bucket. Sams mother who was also a "bell ringer" for ten years reminds us that parents pass along their values best by being a good example.
When we reach out and embrace our neighbors we see pictures that enhance everyday life in our own international community.
