Our Schools Down The Road
As you drive down any road in Point Roberts you are constantly reminded of the rural nature of the community. The settlement does not have it's own economic base nor the infrastructure of a major city to support either substantial residential or commercial growth. Whatever Point Robert lacks in construction and manufacturing essentials it clearly makes up for in the human spirit of individuality within the core of citizens. There also seems a greater understanding of what is truly significant in everyday life within each heart and soul due to a lack of meaningless societal distractions.
Point Roberts shares its educational mandate for her children with Blaine School District resources. Upper grade students ride buses to campuses in the Peace Arch City. The local grade school currently has two teachers. However, a declining enrollment will now limit the school to one instructor. Home schooling and alternative Canadian school options have distracted a number of these students. However, amid the angry feelings of parents being disregarded and frustrations of administrators following the bottom line can come newly created resolutions when everyone works together.
When we reach out and embrace our neighbors we see pictures that enhance everyday life in our own international community.
